ST. PAUL (AP) -- Despite all of the people who say Gov. Jesse Ventura is too stingy in his budget, one lawmaker is criticizing him for spending too much.
Rep. Phil Krinkie, R-Shoreview, challenged the governor Friday to scale back spending even more. He assembled a budget for state agencies that he said contains $130 million less in spending than Ventura proposes in his $27.3 billion plan.
"As has been said before, the governor proposes and the Legislature disposes," Krinkie said. "Well this time we just plan on disposing a little quicker than usual." Krinkie is the chairman of the House State Government Finance Committee.
