The following students have been accepted into Minnesota State University Moorhead: Shannon Ward, the daughter of John and Sally Ward of Brainerd, plans to major in early childhood education; Larry McCulley, the son of Larry and Becky McCulley of Brainerd, plans to major in construction management; and Andrea Kleinschmidt, the daughter of William and Jan Kleinschmidt, majoring in pre-engineering. McCulley is a 1998 Brainerd High School graduate and the other two will graduate from Brainerd in May.
Kleinschmidt also was awarded a dragon scholarship for $1,000 from the university's alumni foundation.
Ward was awarded a university scholarship for $500 from the Minnesota university's alumni foundation.
Steven Loney, Baxter, and Tate Moening, Walker, graduated from Bemidji State University. Loney earned a degree in psychology and Moening earned his in sports management.
Katie Knafla, Little Falls, and Jody Rudlang, Pine River, are members of the Rotaract Club at Bemidji State University for the 2000-01 school year.
Knafla and Rudlang are both seniors majoring in business administration. Knafla is the club's president and Rudlang is the club's secretary.
The Brainerd American Legion is offering $3,000 in scholarships to Brainerd High School seniors who plan to attend Central Lakes College this fall. The Al Broman Scholarship is $1,500 and the three Scholastic Achievement Scholarships are $500 each. All scholarships cam be used to work toward a four-year bachelor's degree or for study in a vocational or technical program on either the Brainerd or Staples campus.
Scholarship forms are available at the guidance office at the high school and must be completed by March 1.
The Brainerd Trades and Labor Assembly is now offering a $500 scholarship to high school seniors in Crow Wing, Aitkin and Cass counties who plan to enroll in vocational or technical programs at Central Lakes College on the Brainerd or Staples campus this fall.
Information and application forms are available at area high school guidance offices. Application deadline is March 1.
Chris Close, the son of Terri and Kevin Close of Brainerd, was named to the fall semester dean's list at University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. Close, a 1998 Brainerd High School graduate, is a junior and is majoring in finance and marketing.
Kristine Emery, Brainerd, was named to the fall semester dean's list at Winona State University.
Lyndsey Anderson, the daughter of Lynn and Gene Anderson of Baxter, is a finalist for Minnesota's 21st annual Homecoming Queen Selection. The event will be held May 6-7 at the Holiday Inn Select Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport in Bloomington.
Anderson is the homecoming queen at Brainerd High School.
Minnesota's 2001 Homecoming Queen will receive a cash scholarship plus an expense paid trip to the national finals to compete with queens from other states for America's Homecoming Queen.
Angela R. Swanson, Brainerd, was named to the 2000 fall semester chancellor's list at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Swanson is majoring in early childhood education.
Erin Schellin, the daughter of Jeff and Laurie Schellin of Baxter, has been accepted to the University of Minnesota-Morris for the 2001 fall semester. Schellin currently is attending Brainerd High School and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Ahnna Hoffman, the daughter of Kevin and Jenny Hoffman of Brainerd, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the University of North Dakota. Hoffman is a senior majoring in elementary education and early childhood. She was a 1997 Brainerd High School graduate.
