Button up before venturing outside Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service in Duluth issued a wind chill advisory until noon Thursday as northwest winds of 5-10 mph will combine with temperatures in the minus single digits to produce wind chills of 25 degrees below zero to 35 degrees below zero in Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties.
In Brainerd, the low temperature Thursday morning is expected to be 10 degrees below zero.
"The coldest temperature will be right around and just after sunrise," said Ed Flenz, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Duluth. "When it's that cold it doesn't take much to drop the wind chill down."
A wind chill advisory means a combination of bitterly cold Arctic air and brisk winds create dangerously low wind chill values.
The weather service recommends people going outside to cover all exposed flesh as they could experience frostbite in 15 to 30 minutes.
The high temperature is expected to only reach 4 degrees Thursday, followed by a low of 17 degrees below zero Thursday night and into Friday morning.
On Friday the high temp is expected to be 10 degrees and the low Friday night and into Saturday morning will be 12 degrees below zero. Wind chills of 10 degrees below to 20 degrees below are expected Friday.
