Picek honored as Sertoman of the Year
Brainerd Area Sertoma Club recently presented Cathe Picek with its Sertoman of the Year Award.
Although Picek has only been a member of the club for a little more than two years, she has made a huge impact on the group. Her first year saw her achieve the GEM Award, which only goes to members who meet high standards of involvement.
Remarks like, "The most organized person I know," "Someone who takes words, puts them on paper, and then has the ability to put them into action," and "Turns reaction into action items" are just three succinct descriptions of how Picek works, according to the Sertoma news release.
She began with the Great Plains Regional Convention, "Great in '08" where she worked closely with co-chairs Joe Schulte and Rory Coit to make this event successful.

Schulte said, "When you have talent, ambition and skills as Cathe Picek does - it's easy putting them to work."
Schulte also complimented Picek for her integrity, work ethic, consistency in performance, and most of all attention to detail.
Picek's focus this year has been her job as co-chair for the Winter Wonderland event. Winter Wonderland continued to be a success because of her involvement, the Sertoma club said in a news release.
Picek is a club officer, holding the secretary's position, which involves organizing and reporting for the club. She also served this past year as Northern Minnesota District secretary. She has logged more than 330 hours of service on behalf of the Brainerd Area Sertoma Club this past year.
Picek is marketing and special events coordinator at Confidence Learning Center, a job she loves and describes as her dream job, but she is passionate about Service to Mankind.
