VOX POP
In response to the article (on the psychiatric hospital) in the Wednesday paper, the city doesn't think we're in any danger. Do they realize how hard it is going to be to sell my house so I can get out of Baxter? I will never be able to get the money I should be able to get when I do sell my home. Furthermore, I couldn't, in good conscience sell my home to a family with young children. I better list my home now before they have their first incident. Then I'll never be able to sell it.

Open Forum: Chief should pay his own tuition
The present police chief began his employment with Brainerd in May 2001, with a yearly salary of $57,339. The police chief resides in the Fort Ripley area and Brainerds taxpayers pay for his transportation to and from work. How many of you taxpayers have received a $23,000 salary increase during the last six years or a $9,300 salary increase in one year? And is your transportation to and from your place of employment paid by your employer?

Look for wild cucumber on river bottoms, swamps and roadside ditches
