Davich leads Flyer girls

LITTLE FALLS -- Rachel Davich had a double-double as the Little Falls Flyers defeated Grand Rapids 63-51 in girls' basketball Saturday.

Davich scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Teammate Angie Kliber added 11 points for the Flyers.

"We were really led by the smallest person on the court," Flyers head Coach Joe Davich said of Trista Schilling. "She led our fast break, and was a key component on the defensive end. It was her best all-around game."

CROSBY -- The Crosby-Ironton girls' basketball team could not overcome Eveleth-Gilbert as the Rangers were defeated 47-38 Saturday.

Whitney Smetana had 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Rangers while teammate Erika Ogard scored 10 points.

The Rangers shot 27 percent from the floor as their overall record dropped to 6-11.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Erin Cusac, who scored a team-high 12 points.

The Tigers were outscored 32-9 in the second and third quarters.
