20 years ago (1990)

The Brainerd Warrior gymnastics team has had an enjoyable season - going 10-0 in dual meets and breaking the school record three times. Brainerd, ranked sixth in Class AA, hosts the CLC meet, followed by the Region 8AA and state meets.

30 years ago (1980)

Fire swept through three homes in Brainerd, Crosby and Pequot Lakes yesterday morning, luckily with only one injury - a firefighter who suffered frostbite and smoke inhalation. All three dwellings were listed as a total loss.

40 years ago (1970)

Their ranks thinned to about 100 racers from the 220 who started, drivers in the St. Paul Winter Carnival International race checked in at the stop in Walker. Locals still driving include Roger Ebert, Nisswa; Bob Brogle, Pine River and Jeff Brick, Brainerd.

60 years ago (1950)

When the Wisconsin Central flight to Minneapolis was delayed, threatening the timely arrival of Miss Brainerd, her sponsors and the Jaycees scrambled for an alternative. Meanwhile, Miss Brainerd chartered her own flight, making the trip on time.

80 years ago (1930)

The Fargo State college newspaper contains an interesting account of tryouts for the college rifle team. Wayne Curtis, graduate of Brainerd High School, is one of those making the 1930 squad, which will defend its two-year national collegiate championship.

100 years ago (1910)

(Adv.) Dr. Hill, of the state board of health, and Dr. Beise, of the Brainerd board of health, have examined the Graham artesian well and found it perfectly sanitary for drinking purposes. The Crystal Artesian Water Co.
