Larry J. Schmidt, Brainerd, was recently promoted to the rank of Specialist 5th Class. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmidt.

60 years ago (1943)

A bill intended to cure the "growing pains" of the city of Brainerd was scheduled to come up for final passage in the State House of Representatives late today. The measure which is designed to solve tax problems created by the fact that Brainerd passed the 12,000 population mark.

80 years ago (1923)

The Senior Class play is soon to come off. The cast is working hard to make it a success. The play itself is a charming one, full of quaint humor, amusing situations and interesting characters.

100 years ago (1903)

The bowling team from Aitkin arrived in the city this afternoon and they will meet the metropolitan team in deadly combat at the metropolitan alley this evening.
