Pete Larson is the 2001-02 recipient of the Jason Fitterer Memorial Award.
Each year at the Bantam A tournament, a first-year Brainerd Bantam A hockey player is chosen to receive the award. The recipient of the award will attend Minnesota Hockey Camp. The player must be coachable, have a positive attitude, be a team player, be motivated to learn and love the game.
Fitterer was a first-year Bantam in 1985. He attended a Bantam Elite Camp and received the most improved player award. He was killed in a bicycle/auto accident Aug. 6, 1985.
The Fitterer family started a hockey camp award in his memory the same year. The award is funded by the Fitterer family, Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association and Minnesota Hockey Camp.
