AITKIN -- Kathleen D. Tyren, 88, Aitkin, formerly of Palisade, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born May 20, 1913, in Cloud County, Kansas, to Jesse and Addie (Gile) Haney. She attended school in Kansas and then moved with her family to Donelda, Alberta, Canada, where she also attended schools. She moved again with her family to Aitkin County, graduating from Aitkin High School in 1932. She operated the Lakeland Lunch Cafe in Aitkin with Gladys (Wickstom) Johnson until 1937. She married Ernest Tyren on June 10, 1936, in Aitkin. They lived in Palisade until 1941 and then moved to Oregon. They returned to Palisade in 1943 and lived there until 1988 when they moved to Maryhill Manor in Aitkin. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Palisade, the ELCA Women and had been a member of the Palisade Coop Ladies Guild.
Survivors include three daughters, Lorraine Liljenquist, Aitkin, Lois Tibbetts, Silver Bay, and Doris Slough, Palisade; seven grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; five great- great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Johnson, Palisade, and Edith Mattson, Anacortes, Wash.; and a brother, Gordon Haney, Glendale, Ariz.
Her husband and two brothers, Duane and Myron, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Sass officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery near Palisade.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and one hour before services Monday at the church.
