She's in fourth grade and is starting to think about how to do her hair and wants to try make-up.
She likes to hang out with her friends and do "girl stuff." She likes to paint her nails and talk about clothes. She also is starting to think about boys and dating.
These are all normal things for a 12-year-old girl to like to do and think about. And most girls navigate their way through these changes with the guidance of their mother.
But Katie doesn't have her mother around to help her through all of this. She sees her mom on a hit and miss basis, more miss than hit actually. She lives with her dad and her older brother.
She doesn't get along very well with her brother, and her dad doesn't know how to help her with this "girl stuff." She needs a reliable female in her life to bounce ideas off and talk to. Katie is enrolled in Kinship Partners and is waiting for a partner.
She has been waiting for a partner for more than a year now. Do you have a couple hours each week to help this little girl navigate through all these changes in her life? To help her learn how to do her hair and make-up and do "girl stuff?" Maybe to help her pick out a dress for a school dance? To guide her through struggles with friends and boys? She likes to play volleyball, play games and would like to learn to sew and do crafts.
If you would like to learn more about Katie, call Kinship Partners. By spending just a couple of hours a week with a child, you really can make a difference in his/her life. For more information in Brainerd call 829-4606, in Cuyuna 546-7308 and Lake Country call 568-4015.
