Edward William Kmiec

GRAND RAPIDS -- Edward William Kmiec, 51, Grand Rapids, formerly of Brainerd, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at his home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Aurora, Ill., to Stanley and Mildred (Sosnowski) Kmiec and grew up in Downers Grove, Ill., where he graduated from high school. He attended DuPage College for two years and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He operated the Children's House in Brainerd for 15 years and moved to Grand Rapids in 1995. He worked for the state as a driver's license examiner for the past eight years.

His father died earlier.

Survivors include a daughter, Tosia Kmiec Casperson, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; his mother, Sun Prairie, Wis.; and two brothers, Tony Kmiec, Downers Grove, and Paul Kmiec, Sun Prairie.

Services will be at a later date in Necedah, Wis.

Arrangements are with the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.
