The Brainerd Warriors and Alexandria met on Friday for a rematch of their thrilling game earlier in the season, which was won by the Cardinals 79-73.
In that game Angela Christianson had 35 points for the Cardinals and Emily Thesing had 32 for the Warriors.
In Friday night's rematch, two Thesing free throws with five seconds remaining clinched the Warriors' 67-66 victory. Thesing finished with 22 points to lead Brainerd while Christianson had 41 to for Alexandria.
"It was a great game," Warriors coach Carl Hendrickson said. "We challenged our kids to come out and play aggressive defense, which we haven't done. They played well together with energy.
"We changed our lineup to give kids a chance to come off the bench and play well. Sara Parsons and Kylie Stanfield both played very well, and our kids came off the bench and did well."
The score was tied 40-40 at the half and the Warriors found themselves down by a point with 10 seconds to go. Thesing drove to the basket and was fouled with five seconds left. She made both free throws for the victory.
"It was a great basketball game," Hendrickson said. "It was a good effort by the girls. If we keep playing that way we will win some games."
KB Capers added 12 points for Brainerd.
