Installation of dial telephones in the city has been started by the Western Electric Co. for Northwestern Bell. A crew of 35 men is in charge of changing over the Brainerd system's 4,382 phones.

The hotel committee has, after many months of earnest work, brought to a head the possibility of a resort hotel on Gull Lake, said incoming president C. A. Ryan addressing the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce.

The new Citizens State Bank building came near to being the scene of a tragedy this morning. Paul Gmahl fell headlong into the shaft, falling 22 ft. Carpenters working there expected to find him dead but he walked away with scratches.
