Crosby-Ironton High School graduate Anthony "The Bullett" Bonsante has withdrawn from the boxing card Feb. 1 at Grand Casino Hinckley.
Bonsante suffered an Achilles tendon injury last week and said Wednesday he would not have been fully recovered by the date of the card.
Olejnicak attains career best for Concordia
Concordia College senior Dusten Olejnicak of Brainerd posted a career best in the long jump at the Cobber Alumni men's track and field meet Jan. 19.
Olejnicak recorded a distance of 21-11. That was 11 inches better than the mark he posted at last year's MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet when he placed seventh.
Concordia's first competition of the 2008 indoor season will be Saturday when they host the Cobber Duals meet at noon.
Hockey fundraiser Saturday at Applebee's
Brainerd Warrior hockey will have a pancake fundraiser at Applebee's from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $5. They may be purchased at the door or from any Warrior junior varsity or varsity hockey player.
Eigner to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warrior boys' hockey coach Ty Eigner will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
Taryn Ruttger, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
The club has two remaining socials for members and fans.
Feb. 2, 5:30 p.m. at Chopper's, with boys' hockey at 3 p.m.
Feb. 14, 5:30 p.m. at 9th Street Bar, with girls' basketball at 7:30 p.m.
JV, sophomore girls win
The Brainerd junior varsity girls' basketball team defeated Sauk Rapids 34-31 on Tuesday as Kylie Stanfield and Nikker Graumann each had 12 points and Emily Olson eight. Brainerd improved to 7-1.
In the sophomore game, Brainerd beat Sauk Rapids 75-9 as KB Capers scored 16 points, Kinzie Hradsky 12, Alex Sauer 11 and Sam Kletscher nine. The Warriors are 14-1.
