The Brainerd Warriors Dance Team "The Kixters" will compete in its conference meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tech High School.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The team also will host a mini-competition at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the high school. Seven schools will compete. Admission for this meet is $3 for adults and $1 for students.
Plans under way for county fair
Members of the Crow Wing County Fair Association recently attended the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs Convention in Bloomington to share ideas, attend workshops, preview entertainment and meet with carnival representatives.
Hildebrant's Midway of Fun will supply the midway for the 2003 Crow Wing County Fair that runs from Aug. 5 -10 in Brainerd. Carnival officials reported that the rides are being spruced up and discounted bracelet coupons will be available before the fair.
Dale Domrase has been hired as fair manager. Contracts for space rental will be available soon from Jean Whitson at 764-3165.
Membership in the Fair Association is $5 per year, payable by July 1, to Crow Wing County Fair Association, 2000 13th St., Brainerd, Minn., 56401. A membership entitles you to a vote at the annual meeting in November, free parking in the south lot, two newsletters per year and a chance to support one of the largest events in the Brainerd area.
The fairgrounds also are available for off-season events. Arrangements can be made by calling 829-6680.
Dairy princess banquet is April 12
The Crow Wing County American Dairy Association will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Princess Kay of the Milky Way program at its annual princess banquet on April 12 at the Brainerd Armory.
Anyone with information on the Crow Wing County Dairy Princess program since 1943 should contact Rosanne Caughey at 828-1998.
The 2003 junior and senior princesses also will be crowned on April 12. Any dairy farm girl between the ages of 13 and 24 is eligible to participate. The senior princess will compete in Willmar May 16-18 for the Princess Kay program.
Dairy princesses are active in several area promotions throughout the year such as classroom visits, parades, fair activities, nursing home visits, and June Dairy Month activities.

Tree sale set Jan. 31
The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District will host a tree sale open house between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Jan. 31, at its offices, 512 C St. N.E.
Staff will be available to answer questions and take orders. Refreshments, prizes and discounts are planned.
Burglary suspect arrested
LITTLE FALLS -- A 29-year-old Little Falls man was arrested Monday in connection with a recent string of burglaries of several Little Falls businesses.
Investigators from the Little Falls Police Department and the Morrison County Sheriff's Department believe, based on statements taken from the suspect, the man is responsible for burglaries within the past month at Heartland Tire, Archer's Supply, Peterson Body Shop, Flatland Truck Repair, Bernie's Auto, West Broadway Automotive, Kruz Auto Repair, ServiceMaster, Kaiser Trucking, Bjerga Feeds, Integrated Molding Concepts, Exhaust Pros, two burglaries at Nornberg Automotive and an attempted burglary at Benson Repair.
The suspect is being held in the Morrison County Jail pending formal charges.
