District 181 Classroom Music Department launches website
Brainerd's classroom music department recently unveiled its new website at http://music.brainerd.k12.mn.us.
The site features 12 years of work by the department toward standards-based instruction, including samples of student assessments, progress reports, articles from Take Note (their parent newsletter), and current projects such as Keyboards in Kindergarten and the Pepsi Notes campaign.
The site spotlights 17 standards-based instructional units which have been developed by the department, with information for music education colleagues across the country who may wish to order copies of the materials for their own classrooms. Links are provided to some of the department's favorite websites as well as to the District 181 website. Also featured are photos and information about members of the classroom music staff, including their phone numbers and instant e-mail access.
"We are pleased to have our site online," reported Department Coordinator, Loretta Norgon, who created and will maintain the site. "We hope that this website will give students, parents, community, and our colleagues greater access to what we do in music education."
