Edna Kobernus

ONAMIA -- Edna Kobernus, 98, Onamia, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the Mille Lacs Nursing Home in Onamia.

She was born April 27, 1902, near Rudd, Iowa, to Peter and Marie (Uefers) Helmers. She attended school near Rudd, Iowa. She married Carl Kobernus on June 8, 1921, in Rudd, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa and later in New Richmond. In 1950, they moved to Onamia where they continued to farm until retiring. In 1986, they moved into Oakwood Apartments in Onamia. In 1992, she became a resident of the Mille Lacs Nursing Home.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends.

Her husband, brothers and sisters died earlier.

Services were today at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Onamia with the Rev. Joe Boeringa officiating. Burial was in Veteran's Cemetery in Onamia.

Arrangements were with Shelley Funeral Chapel.
