Early childhood parenting course

CROSSLAKE - Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church, Crosslake, will host a six-week course on "10 Biblical Traits Your Kids will Remember you For" from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 5 through March 11.

The course is designed for young couples, grandparents or any others who are interested in gaining new insights into raising children from 1-9 years of age.

Father-son banquet at Our Savior's Lutheran Church

PEQUOT LAKES - Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Pequot Lakes will host its father-son banquet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Tickets are available at the door or in the church office weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Price of tickets will be $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Pastor Loren Anderson-Baur will speak at the banquet. Pastor Anderson-Baur is serving as the interim pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Those attending will have the opportunity to participate in a drawing for a handcrafted fishing rod made by Kris Kristufek. The fishing rod will be donated by Kristufek and Cindy Rieck in memory of her father, Don Rieck. A ham dinner will be served.

Book sale at Park UMC

Park United Methodist Church, 315 N. 6th St., Brainerd, will have their third annual used book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Books for all ages will be available at inexpensive prices and a soup luncheon will also be available.

Epic B.A.Y. Rally 42

BAY Ministries will present "EPIC," B.A.Y. Rally 42, at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Washington Educational Service Building in Brainerd.

At a BAY Rally, hundreds of teens will meet for a fast-paced evening of music, live drama, interactive video and a guest speaker. B.A.Y. Rallies, which are held three times a year, are open to all area teens from every denomination. For more information log on to www.bayministries.org or call 825-0149.

Valentine's event planned

Trinity Lutheran Church is hosting a Valentine's event - Love, of Course! - from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 14.

This celebration of love includes a four-course Italian meal, live musical entertainment, a dozen beautifully arranged roses, a photograph of you and your sweetheart, a personalized Valentine's Day card, homemade chocolates and mints and free child care including child's meal. The cost is $100 per couple, a portion of which is tax-deductible. Pre-paid reservations are required by Feb. 8.

Proceeds will go to Trinity's 2010 mission trip to Tanzania to build a classroom for AIDS orphans. For more information, call 829-5147.

Dedication of church building

CUSHING - Bethany Lutheran in Cushing will be dedicating its church building at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Bishop Tom Aitken of the NE MN Synod will be celebrating with us. A pancake breakfast will follow worship.

UCC adult forum

"Keeping Seniors Living Independently" is the topic of First Congregational United Church of Christ's adult forum at 11 a.m. Sunday. Marcia Ferris, regional program manager for Lutheran Social Service, will discuss programs available to aid area seniors.

Buffalo raffle and feed

PIERZ - St. Isidore's Council of the Knights of Columbus are having a buffalo raffle and feed with a dinner from 4:30-8 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Pierz Ballroom and Lanes. Cost of dinner is $5.50. The raffle will be held at 8:30 p.m. Raffle tickets can be purchased from any KC member or at the hall the night of the feed. Raffle tickets are $10. Half the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

Pancake breakfast and bake sale

HARDING - Holy Cross Church in Harding will host a pancake breakfast and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday for Holy Trinity School's sixth grade class to help fund their annual trip to Camp Foley. Cost for adults is $5; $3 for children ages 6-12; and children 5 and under are free.

Prelude Music series

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 408 N. Seventh St., Brainerd, announces its first Prelude Music series for the winter. Bill Patterson will play selections on the classical guitar at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The Holy Eucharist worship service will be 10 a.m.

Meeting and brunch planned

The annual meeting and fellowship brunch for First Lutheran Church, Brainerd, is planned for Sunday. A special brunch will be served from 9-11 a.m. Worship services will be at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The annual meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. Child care will be provided.
