BAXTER - Andrus "Andy" Jullien Severson, 91, of Baxter, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Andy will be Monday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minn., with visitation starting at 11 a.m.
Andy was born Oct. 24, 1916, to Helge and Clara (Hanson) Severson in the Austin, Minn., area. He farmed with his dad, and at 17, started working at Hormel as a laborer. He worked there for 43 years. He married Esther Borgesen Aug. 3, 1940, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In 1944, Andy served during WWII on the aircraft carrier, USS Point Cruise. He enjoyed volunteering at the Austin Senior Citizen Center where he also served on the board. He was a longtime member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Andy farmed with his dad, and at 17, started working at Hormel as a laborer. He worked there for 43 years. He married Esther Borgesen Aug. 3, 1940, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He was a devoted husband and the most wonderful daddy and everyone who knew him loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Esther; his three devoted daughters, Ann (Virg) Lundberg, Terry (Dick) Bakke and Kim (Dwayne) Walker; his six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marion Waldron, of Austin, and Phyllis Stellmaker, of Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Andy was preceded in death by four children, Richard, Andy, Troilee and Jean Kay; his grandson, Tait Bakke; and his parents.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
