The Brainerd U-10 girls' hockey team won its invitational Jan. 5-7 at Brainerd Area Civic Center.
Brainerd followed up a second-place finish at Grand Forks, N.D., the previous weekend by defeating Wayzata 11-2 in its first game. Goal scorers were Paige Rivers, Tory Brown (2), Kelsey Zuk, Hannah Moen, Kristina Anderson (2), Jenny Muesing, Paige Oakley (2) and Erica Swanson. Assists went to Taylor Cadwell (2), Katrina Impola, Kristina Anderson (2), Hannah Moen and Gretchen Gramer. Goalie Kayli Scammahorn had nine saves.
In its second game Brainerd defeated Sibley 6-0. Scoring goals were Paige Oakley, Karli Ring (2), Gretchen Gramer, Erica Swanson and Kristina Anderson. Assists were by Karli Ring, Gretchen Gramer, Hannah Lundstrom (2), Emma Whiteman, Hannah Moen, Paige Oakley and Katrina Impola. Kayli Scammahorn made one save.
Brainerd defeated Forest Lake 8-1 in the championship game. Scoring were Kali Wolhart, Tory Brown (3), Cassandra Kendall, Paige Oakley (2) and Jenny Muesing. Assists went to Taylor Cadwell, Karli Ring (2), Jenny Muesing and Kelsey Zuk. Kayli Scammahorn had three saves.
The team, 12-3-0, is coached by Todd Brown, Jerry Oakley, and Ray Scammahorn.
