The Brainerd City Council Tuesday opened its meeting with a moment of silence in memory of Chuck Widmark, the former Brainerd City Council member who died Sunday.
City Council President Lucy Nesheim said Widmark was a good friend and colleague.
In other action, the council:
Approved the improvement of North Fourth Street and H Street.
Allowed Maintenance I workers Mark Olson and Marvin Bush to rescore their job classification. Council member Bob Olson abstained from the vote. Mark Olson is his son.
Authorized City Attorney Don Ryan and City Administrator Dan Vogt to negotiate with Crow Wing County for the turn over of tax-forfeited land in southeast Brainerd, valued at about $22,500, in lieu of the county's sale to the city of the Norgaard property south of Brainerd.
Passed a resolution authorizing the chairman or vice chairman of the Brainerd-Crow Wing County Regional Airport to act as the authorized representative for the city of Brainerd on 2002 capital projects.
Called for an applicant to a one-year term on the transportation committee.
Called for two applicants for three-year terms on the parking commission.
