Pot bust leads to arrest in Brainerd

Posted: Friday, January 22, 2010

Two search warrants executed Wednesday by the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division resulted in one arrest and the seizure of 1.25 pounds of marijuana.

The search warrants were executed at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday at a residence on the 800 block of 28th Street Southeast in Brainerd and at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on the 3000 block of Crow Wing County Road 8 in Roosevelt Township.

At the 28th Street Southeast home officers arrested Jory Lane Neelen, 22, for fourth-degree sale of a controlled substance, fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and two counts of child endangerment.

Officers also seized high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of about $1,500.

Charges are also being sought against a 20-year-old Brainerd woman for the sale and distribution of marijuana.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said Thursday the search warrants and arrests were part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and distribution of marijuana in Crow Wing County. He said the LADID has been conducting controlled buys using informants.

Dahl said the LADID officers did a good job in taking the marijuana off the streets.

"That's our main goal," Dahl said. "These guys work extremely hard to establish these cases and it brings closure once you can put these people behind bars."

Anyone with information pertaining to drugs in Crow Wing County is asked to call the LADID at 829-4749 or 825-3422.
