Brenny named an athlete of the week
GRAND FORKS, N.D. Junior distance runner Brittany Brenny of Staples and junior thrower Creighton Schroyer have been named the University of North Dakota's athletes of the week Jan. 12-18.
Brenny opened the indoor track and field season last Saturday with a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the Bemidji State Super 8 Invitational. She topped the field with a time of 17:55.08 in the first indoor event of her collegiate career.
Boxers to compete
Six members of the Golden Lakes Boxing Club will compete on a Golden Gloves card at 7 p.m. Saturday at Fergus Falls.
Cole Hatcher, Austin Beber, Ryan Bayliss, Eli Ladue, Adam Doucette and Nathan Scott of GLBC are scheduled to box.
Hendrickson to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warriors girls' basketball coach Carl Hendrickson will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins at noon Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
Brandon Mutz, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
