"Deer Camp II: The Hunt for Stinky Pederson!" - the sequel to the first "Deer Camp" - opens Friday at Central Lakes College Theatre in Brainerd and is part of the Cultural Arts Series. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
The show, produced by Staged Right Production of St. Cloud, has played to sold-out audiences in central Minnesota since making its debut last fall.
Patrick Spradlin, CLC theater director, said the first "Deer Camp" had two sold-out performances at CLC last year and he's anticipating the same this weekend.
Actors from Staged Right Production of St. Cloud will perform "Deer Camp II: The Hunt for Stinky Pederson!" this weekend at the Central Lakes College Theatre in Brainerd.
"There is a huge 'Deer Camp' following," Spradlin said. "People come from everywhere. It's a bit of Minnesota, a slice of life people can relate to.
"'Deer Camp II' is a hilarious show. Anyone who has lived here can identify with it. It's wildly funny, they are good actors, and who doesn't need a good laugh right now. Plus, there's no football this weekend so it'll be an enjoyable evening."

Jurek said the sequel includes the original cast of "Deer Camp." The actors are Mike Johnson, John Theis, Brad Busse and Randy Soltis - the hunters. A new character, "Smart-Lip Vera," is played by Trish Soltis.
"This play is more funny than the first one," Jurek said. "They'll be tons of surprises and lots of crowd interaction."
Jurek said the play may be seen by anyone, whether they saw the first play or not. For the ones who saw the original "Deer Camp," they'll continue to enjoy watching the hunters move along in their lives. And for the ones who didn't see the original, they'll know the characters early on.
"This is a fun, laugh-out-loud play," Jurek said. "The whole idea of the play is to entertain everyone."
Jurek said he had always wanted to write a play and he came up with the idea for "Deer Camp" with all the deer hunting licenses that are sold each year. Jurek said "Deer Camp" was performed in St. Cloud, Brainerd and a few other cities in Minnesota last year. In St. Cloud alone there were six weeks of sold-out performances.
