PINE RIVER -- Howard Orville Johnson, age 91, of Pine River, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at St. Joseph's Medical Center of Brainerd.
Howard was born June 22, 1913, in rural Marion, N.D., to Claus and Josephine (Qualley) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Elenore Weiler on March 20, 1938, in Verona, N.D. He farmed in North Dakota unti 1948, when he moved to a farm in rural Pine River. In 1954, he went to work in the mines in Hibbing for eight years and then worked for Durkee Manufacturing until retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 66 1/2 years, Elenore, of Pine River; daughters, Norma (James) Ware, of Pine River, and Darla (Arvid) Raph, of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; sons, Donald (Carol Sandberg), of Mesa, Ariz., and James (Jane Enger), of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Peterson, of Fargo, N.D.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and David; and a baby daughter, Beverly; his parents; six brothers; and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River with Pastor John Twiton officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Kline Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. and also one hour prior to services on Monday.
A luncheon will be served at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pine River following interment at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Pine River.
