January celebrates National Mentoring Month.
It seems when one works for a non-profit organization we are always trying to promote ways of funding the organization, but more important than funding is helping people realize the real source of funding is the adult partner, to be a mentor to a young child.
Anyone reading this "Child in Need," you are our most valuable resource. We do not have a program without you. Kinship Partners needs for you to become a partner to a very special person.
Jill's dad died when she was 5 years old and in her short 14 years she has been sexually abused. Her best friend is her mom and because of the abuse she does not want to leave her mom's side.
Jill has been counseled and is working very hard at overcoming these problems. She needs someone to do active things with. She enjoys outdoor activities such as bike-riding, canoeing, swimming and water-skiing. She is also interested in reading, writing, talking and animals. She is sometimes shy, at times active, quiet and friendly. She needs interaction with people other than her mom.
We need to match Jill as soon as possible because Kinship's policy is to not match individuals after age 15. Jill is a sweet and funny person, if you choose her to be your partner your life will be more fulfilled because of the appreciation shown in this young girl's face.
Call Kinship Partners this week and set up an appointment to start the process. The number at Brainerd is (218) 829-4606, Pequot Lakes (218) 568-4015 or our toll free number 1-877-730-kids (5437).
