MOTLEY -- Ernest R. Rostberg, 78, Motley, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
He was born April 19, 1923, in Grove City to Helmer and Alma (Swanson) Rostberg. He grew up and attended schools in the Grove City area. After high school, he entered the Army Air Corps where he was stationed in Washington, D.C. He married Virginia Dreon on Nov. 20, 1943, in Minneapolis. After his Army service, he returned to Minnesota to work on the family farm. They later moved to the Twin Cities where he worked as a truck driver for National Tea Food Stores until his retirement in 1984. They moved to Las Vegas and later to their Lake Shamineau cabin.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Larson, Ryder, N.D.; three sons, Ronald Rostberg, Eagan, Donald Rostberg, Lakeville, and David Rostberg, Bloomington; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Johnston; and a special friend, Shirley Mikish.
His wife; a brother, Carl; and a sister, Linea Larson, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Steven Sveom officiating and 11 a.m. Friday at Hosanna Church in Lakeville with Pastor Pat Moe officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the Faith Lutheran Church and 10-11 a.m. Friday at Hosana Church in Lakeville.
