Crow Wing County Republican executives are charged with educating the public about the Republican platform, candidates running for office and encouraging all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote. We are to be impartial regarding endorsement of specific candidates until candidates have been endorsed by the group as a whole.
On Sunday, Jan. 18 the Brainerd Dispatch printed a letter to the editor from Dianna Jenkins of Nisswa. The letter was signed: Dianna Jenkins, Nisswa, Crow Wing County Republican Party Executive Committee member, Crow Wing County.
Everyone has the right to express their opinion however Ms. Jenkins did not and does not have the authority to speak for the Crow Wing County Republicans as a whole or the Crow Wing County Republican Party Executive Committee.
I am unable to comment further on this issue other than to say that I have attempted to contact Ms. Jenkins several times since the letter was published but have been unable to reach her. I feel it is important that readers understand Ms. Jenkins was providing her opinion and not the views of the Republican Party or the Crow Wing County Republican Party Executive Committee.

Popping the real estate bubble
To the gentleman from Emily, you are right about the cold weather up in Emily. It must have frozen your senses.
The people making all the big bonuses didot cause this mess we are in. If you look to the top of the (Commentary) page, Friday the 15th, you will see a man about to be launched by a donkey. Senator Dodd is one of the causes along with Barney Frank.
All you have to do is a little research to see that President Bush tried to get more legislation over Fannie and Freddy. But Barney Frank didn't see any reason for that. He felt they were very sound. These two men caused the real estate bubble to pop.
It was on TV when Barney Frank made this statement.
Get electrical work done right
We were saddened to see the front page story regarding the fire that destroyed the home of Ruth Boldan. I remember reading her book Freddy Frog Wakes Up to my children many years ago. Sad as it is to lose a home, at least she and her great grandchildren were able to escape without injury.
Let us hope that her misfortune serves as a reminder regarding safety. Solar panels, whether they are hot air, hot water or solar electric (PV), require electrical wiring. Like any electrical appliance, solar panels must be correctly and safely installed and wired. Any incorrectly wired or poorly installed appliance can cause a fire, not just solar panels. So, please, for safety's sake, if you choose to use the sun to make your carbon footprint smaller, remember to use a licensed electrician to do the wiring and have the work checked by a state electrical inspector.
Change we could live without
If you sent him money, you're OK.
In an effort to get health care jammed down our throats, Obama made a deal with the unions. The unions threatened to boycott Obama and his cronies because of the Cadillac provision in the health care package.
The cadillac provision penalizes those with private healthcare a 40 percent tax. If your health care package is better than that offered by the government, you will be taxed 40 percent on your plan. The unions didn't like that plan and threatened all kinds of nefarious actions.
Obama caved and now the unions are exempt from the Cadillac tax. So if you belong to SEIU or the UAW, not problem - you're off the hook. But if you work for Crow Wing Power, BMC, Mills, Agency One, Bremer, Wells Fargo - or any employer who provides health care for its employees you're screwed.
You will be taxed to provide free insurance to the unions who spent millions getting Obama elected.
Another great change we can live without.
