Donald D. Logering, age 82, went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 18, 2010. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Ron Schmelzer officiating. The wake will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples with rosary and parish prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Donald Logering
Don was born on March 30, 1927, in Staples, Minn., to Theodore and Wilhemina (Borgert) Logering. He grew up near Browerville and attended school there. On Sept. 21, 1948, he married Louise Cronin at Sacred Heart Church. Donald worked for a time as a carpenter and a locksmith until taking a job as a custodian and maintenance man at the Staples High School, retiring in 1984. Don enjoyed traveling, going to auctions, playing cards and antique cars and tractors.
Don will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Louise; children, Linda (Tom) Tappe, of Staples, Peggy (Don) Sather, of Staples, Arnold Logering, of Staples, and Debra (Greg) McGillivray, of Staples; former daughter-in-law, Julie Logering, of Pierz; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
