Brainerd Amateur Hockey Association is hosting a Pee Wee A tournament this weekend.
The first round of games Saturday are Bloomington Kennedy vs. Cold Spring at 8 a.m., Brainerd vs. Sauk Rapids at 9:45 a.m., St. Cloud Red vs. Lakeville at 11:30 a.m. and Roseville vs. Buffalo at 1:15 p.m.
The second round of games will be played Saturday with the final games Sunday. The championship game will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free for Brainerd residents.
John nabs two fourth places
SHAKOPEE -- Factory Polaris snocross racer Trevor John of Crosslake captured fourth place in the Pro Stock final and Pro Open final at the World Snowmobile Association Snocross Worldwide Championship at Canterbury Park last Sunday.
Ski-Doo's Todd Wolff won the Pro Stock final and Arctic Cat's Blair Morgan won the Pro Open feature.
In the Pro Stock qualifying rounds, John won one heat and placed third in the other two. In Pro Open qualifying, he won one heat, placed third in one and fourth in the other.
In the Pro Women's final, Amanda Johnson of Aitkin settled for third on her Polaris. She was passed by Ski-Doo's Nichole Nicholas at the double-jump finish line, who suffered a dismount to nab second place.
Winning the Pro Women's feature was Julie Thul on her Polaris. Amanda's sister, Sara, placed ninth.
JV gymnastics prevail
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity gymnastics team beat Sauk Centre 126.3 to 89.8 on Thursday.
Brainerd's Annalisa Aakhus won the balance beam with 8.4 points, Katie Perpich was first on uneven parallel bars with a 7.5, Amanda Rau won the floor exercise with an 8.8 and Kathleen Lorenz was first on vault with an 8.5
JV swimmer wins two events
Brainerd's Mike Krueger won two events in a junior varsity swimming meet Thursday. Krueger won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:15.06 and the 100 free at 1:01.54.
Warrior B-squad wins first game
The Brainerd Warriors boys' sophomore boys' basketball team beat the Sartell Sabres 71-56 Thursday for its first win of the season.
Leading the way for the Warriors was Bryce Cloutier with 16 points, Paul Tuchscherer with 14, Justin Cervin 14 and Jake Phillips 11.
JV ski teams place first
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity boys' and girls' alpine skiing teams both placed first at the Virginia Invitational on Thursday.
Mark Femling placed first overall for the Warrior boys with a time of 1:28.18. Michael Paul finished second in 1:29.73 and Sebastian Wickenburg was fourth in 1:31.53.
Jenna Bergin placed second for the Warrior girls in 1:41.86. Tiffany Klang placed third with a time of 1:43.31 and Elizabeth Sawdey was fifth in 1:45.05.
