Skating for Haiti event planned Saturday in Crosby

CROSBY - The Hallett Center of Crosby is sponsoring a public skating session to raise funds to help with the devastation in Haiti from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the HCC arena. Cost is a $5 donation per person, with all donations going to Project Haiti, a local initiative that has been offering medical supplies, training and assistance to Haiti.

Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be available for sale, and rental skates will also be available.

The event is also in need of volunteers to help collect admissions, sell refreshments and bake cookies. Contact Maurice Slepica at 546-2616 if you'd like to help.

For interested people who are not able to go skating but would like to make a donation, there will be a secure jar at the HCC service desk this week.
