I totally agree with the Vox Pop Department of Public Opinion regarding school closing. The local superintendents all made the right call in closing schools because of the cold. I would rather know earlier than later to give me time to make arrangements and error on the side of total safety of my children.
I just finished reading the story of the puppies found frozen to death on the lake. How very sad. To the people or person that did this, you are horrible! How can you be so cruel? I hope you get caught. Somebody saw something or can trace it to you. Hope you were all toasty warm these last few days and were able to sleep well.
Gas price questions
In the past six months I have watched the price of oil drop and drop. About five weeks ago you could get a gallon of gas for $1.59. The price for a barrel of crude was about $35 give or take $3. The price now is about $35 give or take $3 but we are paying $1.87. I'm curious as to what would account for this 28-cent raise. I'm starting to wonder if crude gets back to $70/barrel will the gas stations already charge us $4/gallon?
Hope you're happy
To the person who left those poor puppies to die on the ice, they could have helped people with disabilities or the mentally ill or in the nursing homes. I worked at a nursing home that had a dog and that dog knew if something was wrong and would get us to help the patients or they could have given lots of love to someone who needed it, but no, you had to kill them. I hope you're happy now!
In these times of diminishing returns, rising prices and unemployment, we as a people need to control one of the things that is completely within our control - our behavior! I was saddened to read the front page of the Dispatch last week when it reported the abandonment of puppies on the cold ice of South Long Lake. They died even before they were able to open their eyes and see the wonders of their new world. Wow! How does one live with one's self after such a cold, uncaring and immoral act?
Regarding the abandoned puppies, I think it's really sad and I hope the person or persons who did that can lay their head down to sleep at night. There were other options. It really struck my granddaughter's and grandson's hearts. They can't believe somebody could be that mean. ... There's an investigation going on. It'd be really easy to find that person.
