EDEN PRAIRIE (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings tight end Byron Chamberlain was selected Friday to join the NFC team in the Pro Bowl next month.
Chamberlain replaces Carolina's Wesley Walls, who has an injured knee.
Chamberlain, who caught 57 passes for 666 yards in his first season with the Vikings, is a free agent, but Minnesota has expressed an interest in re-signing him for 2002.
Chamberlain's reception total was the highest by a Vikings tight end since Steve Jordan caught 57 balls in 1988. Chamberlain was also only the third Minnesota tight end to surpass 600 yards receiving in a season.
The Pro Bowl will be played Feb. 9 in Honolulu.
