Joseph Dotseth, former Pine River and Lake Shore police officer, has accepted a full-time position with the Cold Spring Police Department. Dotseth, a 1996 Pine River-Backus High School graduate and a 1998 Central Lakes College graduate, has been with the Cold Spring police since early December.
Winter Auction planned in Crosslake
CROSSLAKE -- The annual Winter Auction in Crosslake is set Feb. 2 at the Riverside Inn, on County Road 3 in Crosslake.
Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the auction to follow at 7 p.m.
The event offers food, networking and an auction. Cost is $20 for pre-registration and $25 at the door (or for non-Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce members). Proceeds benefit chamber activities in the Crosslake area.
New lake country guides promote area
Lake country guides that promote the Pine River, Nisswa, Pequot-Breezy Point lake country for 2002 are now available.
The recreation guides, detailing area attractions, services and businesses, are available at area chambers of commerce and other locations in the region.
The guides feature complete lodging directories, golf course listings, and information promoting the lake country. More than 80,000 of the books will be distributed, primarily in the Midwest region.
The three guides were produced by Echo Publishing and Printing. Chambers of commerce in Pine River, Pequot and Nisswa assisted with the projects.
Handlos named CTC coordinator
Jan Handlos was named Internet processing coordinator at Consolidated Telephone Co., an independent telecommunications and Internet company based in Brainerd.
Handlos will help design, test and modify Internet software updates for the company's data processing applications and will help in determining the needs of the company's computer hardware requirements.
Handlos has worked for Consolidated Telephone for 15 years and previously worked for Consolidated's subsidiary company Northland Communications for three years.
