WALKER -- The Cass County Board will meet with the Itasca County Board at noon Feb. 1 with a lunch at the Warf Restaurant in Walker.
This will follow the regular 9 a.m. Cass board meeting at the courthouse that date.
The two boards expect to discuss existing cooperative relationships through Mississippi Headwaters Board, Leech Lake Watershed Project, Association of Minnesota Counties, Minnesota Rural Counties Caucus and a computer consortium.
Potential future relationships between the two counties could include a juvenile detention/treatment facility, a regional jail, shared law enforcement records and forest planning.
Current issues both boards are facing include Leech Lake Reservation tax agreements, reservation law enforcement agreements, Chippewa National Forest 25 percent fund charges, federal payment in lieu of tax congressional action and family center services.
