20 years ago (1982)

Despite talk of a possible lawsuit against the city, the Brainerd City Council voted 4-2 to deny the request of a group of doctors who wanted to establish a drug store in their South Brainerd office building.

30 years ago (1972)

Brainerd's city bus experiment now is several months old. It seems to be unlikely that it will succeed financially, but there is a strong likelihood that it may prove the point that bus service is needed here.

40 years ago (1962)

Although the official low in the entire nation last night was -30 at Hibbing, North Central Airlines here claimed an even colder -36 at 8 a.m. today.

60 years ago (1942)

Sergeant: "Did you shave this morning?"

Draftee: "Yes, sir."

Sergeant: "Well next time stand a little closer to the razor."
