PIERZ --John P. Leeb Sr., 84, Pierz, formerly of Lastrup, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at St. Cloud Hospital.
He was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Lastrup to Peter and Helen (Tretter) Leeb. He attended country school. He worked as a farm hand in Wisconsin for a couple of years, returning to Lastrup. He married Lavina Tretter on Nov. 26, 1940, in St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church of Lastrup. They farmed in the Hillman area for a few years. In 1944, they moved to Lastrup where he worked for the Lastrup Creamery as a milk truck driver for more than 20 years. He then worked in the Lastrup Creamery until retiring in 1977. They moved to Rose Court Apartments in Pierz in 1996. He was a member of St. John's Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup and the Pierz Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Leeb, Wa Keeney, Kan., and John P. Leeb Jr., Clearwater; two daughters, Sylvia Kowalzek, Lastrup, and Doreen Waytashek, Little Falls; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Leeb, St. Cloud; and three sisters, Laura Pella, Pierz, Lucille Magnan, Pierz, and Bernice Davis, Jacksonville, Fla.
His wife, two brothers, Christ and Herb Leeb, and three sisters, Elizabeth Ratzloff, Mary Kalhamer and Helen Nieken, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church of Lastrup with the Rev. Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel of Pierz from 4-9 p.m. today, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. and the Pierz Knights of Columbus Office for the Dead at 8:30 p.m., and from 8 a.m. until services Wednesday.
