LITTLE FALLS -- Diana Lee Romaine (Spaulding) Smith, 84, Little Falls, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
She was born Jan. 23, 1916, in St. Louis, Mo., to Allen and Esther (Grant) Spaulding. She graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia with degrees in journalism and English. She worked for newspapers in the area. She married Van Smith in 1948. She later taught journalism, English, Spanish and French at public, Catholic and Lutheran high schools. In 1962, they moved to southern Illinois. She worked for the area newspaper and became involved with the Republican Party. In 1977, they retired to San Diego, Calif., and lived there for 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, three children, seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Little Falls Alliance Church with Pastor Roland Jennings officiating.
Arrangements are with Shelley Funeral Chapel of Little Falls.
