Brainerd to receive grant to investigate site for contamination
The city of Brainerd will receive a $29,325 grant from the Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development to investigate for contamination of a 47-acre site owned by Northern Pacific Center Inc. located at 101 13th St. N.E. in Brainerd.
The action could pave the way for the development of approximately 10 commercial and/or industrial buildings and possibly residential housing on the site. It is anticipated that 150 jobs will be created by the development and the city's tax base will increase by $334,175.
The site was originally used by the railroad for construction, repair and maintenance activities. A former gas plant and power plant also occupy the site. NPC owns the property and leases a portion of it for commercial, industrial and office processing, plastic rotational molding, mold manufacturing and material storage and warehousing.
