CHISHOLM - Robert A. Kinzel, age 86, of Chisholm, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi, Hibbing. He was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Utica Location (Hibbing) to August and Corrine (Scharrier) Kinzel. He was a graduate of Hibbing High School and was a member of the 1938 Hibbing Bluejackets State Football Champions.
Bob was married on Sept. 12, 1942, in Chisholm, Minn., to Emma J. Sevshek. He was an Army veteran of WWII having served in the European theater. He worked as a millwright at U.S. Steel's Minntac plant until his retirement in 1976 after 34 years of service. He belonged to VFW Post No. 8510 of Hibbing, the Press-Lloyd American Legion Post No. 247 of Chisholm, the Disabled American Veterans and was a charter member of the Chisholm Curling Club.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Emma; son, Robert F. (Judie), of Baxter, Minn.; daughters, Jane R. (Dennis) Shepersky, of Litchfield, Minn., and Deborah A. (Ron) Lockhart, of Chisholm; grandchildren, Kara C. (Mike) Patrick, Alissa M. (Steve) Kuepers, Timothy M. Gentilini; three great-grandchildren, Matt and Caleb Patrick, Mason Kuepers, and twins on the way.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Rupp Funeral Home and Cremation, Chisholm. Private family inurement will be at a later date in Chisholm Cemetery.
