Lloyd E. Hoban

PEQUOT LAKES -- Lloyd E. Hoban, 80, of Pequot Lakes, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Father Glen Derby officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Nisswa. Family will receive friends starting at noon on Saturday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel.

Lloyd was born Feb. 21, 1923, to Jay and Edith (Gregor) Hoban in Waterville, Minn. He graduated from Waterville High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Griebenow July 29, 1947. They moved to St. Paul where he worked for Red Owl Grocery for 33 years. He retired as manager. In 1990, they moved near Nisswa to Middle Cullen Lake where he lived the remainder of his days. Lloyd was a member of the Retail Employee Credit Union (United Food and Commercial Workers Local 789). He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing and golfing.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen; daughters, Becky (Scott) Fredricksen, of Hudson, Wis., Debby (Bernie) Sowers, of St. Paul, Minn., Peggy Hoban, of Lakeville, Minn.; sister, Shirley M. Miller, of St. Peter, Minn.; brother, Donald Huban, of Austin, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Amy Jo Hallstrom, Cathy Hallstrom, Maggie Fredricksen, Lisa Anderson, Joe Simon, Josh Lovell, Darrick Wenzel, Brett Wenzel; five great-grandchildren, Alec Anderson, Kylie Anderson, Sam Anderson, Hannah Simon, Casey Simon; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
