STAPLES -- Althea Ruth Collison, 73, Staples, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at home.
She was born April 10, 1929, in Renville to Ben and Della (Weber) MacRunnels. She moved to Sacred Heart. They lived there until they moved to a farm northeast of Staples. She graduated from Staples High School in 1947. She worked for the local produce company picking poultry in the fall and waitressed at several cafes. She married Orville Collison on May 26, 1954, in Staples. She helped her husband on the garbage route and handled his bookkeeping. She worked at the nursing home for 19 years as an aide. She also worked with the Green Thumb Project, senior meals and at Staples-Motley High School. She was a member Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Wille, St. Cloud; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eldon MacRunnels, Staples.
Her parents, her husband, five brothers, Emory, Charles, Burl, Gerald and Russell, and two sisters, Vira and Dorothy, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Staples Church of Christ with the Rev. Barry Klein officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery north of Leader.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
