Dance team wins kick competition

The Brainerd Warrior Dance Team "The Kixters" won the kick competition Tuesday at Sauk Rapids and took third place in jazz.

Other teams competing were St. Cloud Apollo, St. Cloud Cathedral and Big Lake.

The team tied with Sauk Rapids for second place in jazz but lost the tie breaker. The top three scores in jazz were Cathedral with 354 points; Sauk Rapids with 334 points; and Brainerd with 331 points.

In the kick category the top three scores were Brainerd with 385 points; Cathedral with 375 points; and Apollo with 348 points.

The dance team will compete in the Central Lakes Conference meet Jan. 25 at St. Cloud Tech High School. The team's next home competition is 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at the high school. Teams competing with Brainerd in this meet will be Apollo, Tech, Duluth East, Anoka and Blaine.
