The Crosslake Area Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Crosslake Community Center. Our topic is a Paul Bunyan Trail Plan Study by Michael Martinez. Greeters are Nita Baskfield and Jan Godeke. For more information, call Joanne at 692-2050.

Chapter C.J. of P.E.O.

Chapter C.J. of P.E.O. will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Betty Sundberg. Kathy Buxton assisting.

Chapter DV, P.E.O.

Chapter DV, P.E.O. will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Jan Sheets for a dinner meeting. Co-hostesses: Jean Carey, Barbara Lowe and Jan Morton. Program: Susan Wiger.

Ray's Promenaders

Ray's Promenaders will square dance from 8-10 p.m. Friday at Baxter Elementary School with Larry Johansen calling. Joe and Elsie Melby will host the potluck lunch. Area dancers welcome.

Senior dance

There will be a senior dance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Legion. Music by Frank Gust.

Disabler American Veterans and Auxiliary

The Disabler American Veterans and Auxiliary will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Legion in Brainerd.

CWC Social Service Retirees

Crow Wing County Social Service Retirees luncheon meeting will be at noon Tuesday at the Northwind Grille in downtown Brainerd.

Degree of honor

Members will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the VFW club. Installation of officers will be conducted. Hostess: Lorraine Peterson.

Widowed Friends

Ironton Commercial Club

The Ironton Commercial Club will sponsor a Ranger Spaghetti Supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday in the C-I commons prior to the C-I vs. Aitkin basketball game.

Sons of Norway

Sons of Norway will meet Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. A cultural video will be shown at 6:15 p.m. and the meeting will be at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be Ray Nelson, historian from Deerwood, on "Early Diplomats in Buckskin."

WHS Class of 1940

The Washington High School class of 1940 will meet at noon Tuesday for lunch at Bonanza. All members and spouses are urged to attend.

Florence Rebekah Lodge 111

Florence Rebekah Lodge 111 will meet at 3 p.m. Monday in the North Room of the Salvation Army in Brainerd. Hostesses: Alice Ball, Jessie Britton, Norma Dickson, Idabell Mohler and Vesta Murrow.

MCCL March for Life

The MCCL March for Life will begin at noon Saturday at the State Capitol in St. Paul. The March is conducted annually on the anniversary of the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision, which legalized abortion. A brief program will follow at 12:30 p.m. on the Capitol steps.

Nisswa Women's Club

The Nisswa Women's Club will meet at noon Thursday at the Quarterdeck Boat House. Doris Stengel, local author and poet, will present recent poems. The hostess committee, chaired by Betty Hornung, includes Suzanne Greenslit, Berniece Hinkie, Marcia Turcotte and Sonja Larsen.

Babysitting class offered

The Northern Lakes Area Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a babysitter's training course through Brainerd Community Education. This is an 8 hour course that teaches rescue breathing, basic first aid, age appropriate play, how to react in emergency situations and the business of babysitting. Upon completion, participants will be a certified Red Cross babysitter. Course fee is $25, which includes all training materials and the textbook. Also students should bring a lunch. Beverages will be provided. Register by calling the Red Cross at 829-4004 or Community Ed at 828-5372.

"Warm Hearts Make Warm Hearths"

The Brainerd/Baxter/Nisswa Chapter of Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity is having a fundraiser from 5-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Social hour and silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner and dessert at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment by Dandelion Wine from 5-6 p.m. and an ongoing bake sale. Cost: $15 per person. Call 828-8517 for information and reservations. The event is co-sponsored by Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brainerd; First Lutheran Church, Brainerd; Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Baxter; Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa; and Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd.

Encore Art

Encore Art will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library meeting room. Phyllis Franken will demonstrate fabric painting.

Lakes Area Law Enforcement

The Lakes Area Law Enforcement Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Law Enforcement Center. The meeting is open to all graduates of the Brainerd Citizen's Police Academy and the Sheriff's Council.
