BREEZY POINT - DFL activists from Congressional Districts 6, 7 and 8 will gather for a retreat in Breezy Point this weekend for political workshops, strategy sessions and socials, giving potential gubernatorial candidates a great opportunity to talk about their candidacy and garner support.
Candidates that attend the retreat in Breezy Point will present full length speeches along with a question-and-answer session. Attendees will have direct contact with each of the candidates for a half-hour between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Franni Franken, wife of U.S. Sen. Al Franken, also will address the group on Saturday.
Saturday night includes a banquet with speakers Rep. Jim Oberstar and former state Sen. Becky Lourey. There will be a small registration fee for the daylong event with dinner tickets selling for $25.
Don Bye, of Pequot Lakes, Congressional District 8 chair, said this is the fourth time the three congressional districts have joined for a retreat in Breezy Point.
Staff from the State DFL Party will attend the retreat to conduct workshops. Bye said this retreat offers candidates a great opportunity to reach a large number of potential state convention delegates and potential volunteers.
