SAUK RAPIDS - The Brainerd Warrior dance team took second place in high kick and third in jazz Tuesday at a dance meet at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School.
Head Coach Cindy Clough in an e-mail, said, "Historically Sauk Rapids seems to be the meet where all things do not go our way. During varsity kick we did very well. We had hoped to beat Cathedral but they edged us out. The bright spot for us in kick is that many of our scores went up from our former meets. We had made some choreography changes and our scores went up. We were happy to see this."
The high kick results were St. Cloud Cathedral, first; Brainerd, second; Sartell, third; St. Cloud Apollo, fourth; and Sauk Rapids-Rice, fifth.
The jazz results were St. Cloud Cathedral, first; Sartell, second; Brainerd, third; St. Cloud Apollo, fourth; and Sauk Rapids-Rice, fifth.
The Brainerd junior varsity team took first in kick.
The dance team will compete in a dual meet Friday at Chaska High School during halftime of Chaska's basketball game.
Then the Warriors will compete Saturday at a Wayzata Dance Invitational, which will be the dancers largest meet of the year.
