20 years ago (1988)

Ski Gull, a downhill skiing facility, will re-open Saturday with a new beginning, new snow, new hill, new lift, new slopes and new hope for the future.

30 years ago (1978)

Over $4 million worth of new construction was complete in the city of Baxter in 1977. There were 76 new homes valued at $2,888,000.

40 years ago (1968)

Sixty-three students have registered for firearms training, Brainerd police said today. Any boy or girl in this area who will have their 12th birthday in 1968 is eligible to register.

60 years ago (1948)

Plumb lines were striking near bottom in Brainerd distributors' fuel oil tanks today sounding a note of warning to oil customers. The overall picture can be summed up in one word - Hope.

80 years ago (1928)

Friday, Jan. 13, proved a jinx night for Crosby-Ironton High School before a record crowd in one of the fastest basketball games ever seen in Brainerd, the Brainerd High School defeated Crosby-Ironton 18-11.

100 years ago (1908)
