WADENA -- Kenneth Carl McLeod, 78, Wadena, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Elders Home in New York Mills.
He was born July 5, 1923, in Ottertail to Gordon and Amelia (Burmeister) McLeod. He married Alma Elizabeth Eskola on Dec. 31, 1946, in Wadena. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945. He worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Post No. 38 in Park Rapids and the VFW Elmer Goche Post No. 3922 in Wadena.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jeffrey McLeod, Waconia, Dennis McLeod, Detroit Lakes, Leonard McLeod, Wadena, and Glen McLeod, Everett, Wash.; two brothers, Vernon McLeod, Alexandria, and Donald McLeod, New Port; three sisters, Edith Mounts, Henning, Hazel Heino, Hibbing, and Ferne Irelan, Dunkirk, Ind.; five grandchildren; and five-great-grandchildren.
His parents; a daughter, Gwendolyn McLeod; three brothers, Clarence "Pat" McLeod, Gordon "Bud" McLeod, and Marvin McLeod; and a sister, Ruby Hanebuth, died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena with the Rev. Jon Larson officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Elmer Goche Post No. 3922 and U.S. National Guard. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Ottertail.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Johnson Memorial Funeral Home in Wadena.
