BOWLUS -- Lawrence Leners, 78, Bowlus, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at home.
He was born March 24, 1921, in St. Michael to Henry and Marie (Roden) Leners. They moved to Buckman and then Bowlus in 1939. He married Irene Fussy on Nov. 6, 1945, at St. Stanislaus Church in Bowlus. He farmed all his life. He was on the Bowlus Fire Department for 20 years and he was the Bowlus city clerk and treasurer for more than 35 years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Kenneth Leners, Tullahoma, Tenn., Ronald Leners, Larry Leners and Allen Leners, all of Bowlus; two daughters, Sandra Ebnet, Holdingford, and Brenda Schoenfelder, Prior Lake; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Scepurek, Bloomington, and Mary Ellen Barret, St. Cloud; and two brothers, Leo Leners, Amarillo, Texas, and Donald Leners, Minneapolis.
Two brothers, Herb and Ray, and two sisters, Sally Pheifer and Helen Masog, died earlier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Bowlus with Father Greg Mastey officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call at St. Stanislaus Church from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until services Monday.
